Positive reinforcement

Posters than reflect a positive light in change, not all towards sustainability, but about attitude. Great visual experimentation, gone right. Link here

“A fashion is merely a form of ugliness so unbearable that we are compelled to alter it every six months.” Oscar Wilde

...and that is why we love it. Its also why I love the song God Loves Ugly by Atmosphere. Alas, we buy the season. Bring on winter, new seasons fashion must drop soon enough. xo

ACT - Its a good theme

I really like this, plus its great for my research. We should all be more responsible, but firstly, so should advertising. Or even better, advertising can help us to be more responsible. How? Read more here

Walk like a man, talk like a man

Annah Stretton – No thank you, Lady Luck.

Tussock, 7.35am. I look around, and no one. The demand for a free brecky wasn’t as high as I had expected! But lets be honest, fashion and eating aren’t really two things that go hand in hand. We were here not for the chow down, but the words of wisdom from the Hawks Bay star.

And there she is, dressed in black with slight glimmers of a red sheen under a beautifully crafted blazer with woven shoulder pads, and offcourse, the trademark white slash of hair. Annah Stretton stands incredibly proud. She knows she owns it. Her successes range for reaching personal goals, to working within huge companies and dealing with the top big bosses, and offcourse, her accomplishment of stepping it on her own.

Stretton attributes her endeavours to “thinking like a man”. Black and white is key: its success of failure, and from hearing her speak, I can understand failure wasn’t an option. Her career started as some what of a ‘dare’ from her family members. After two years in Dunedin partaking in arts and design at Fine Arts School, she took a step back, and decided arts, as a business, was not going to happen. She had to work ‘so damn hard’ at it, and still felt she was only mediocre in the discipline. The family members (accountants and lawyers of the time) pushed her to do a degree – a thinking degree. She chose to study accounting. This was not what Stretton felt her brain was built for, but was vital to get where she wanted in business. Unlike most students though, Stretton held several high power accountancy oppositions whilst she completed her study part time. And after 7 years of study, she had it.

With proof under her belt that she was a thinker as well as a creative, she hit the New Zealand full force, buying for huge chains through out the nation. Stretton had a real eye for what the consumer wanted, as well as the knowledge of how business should work.

To cut a long story short, she rocked it, and was pushed to go out on her own. On her first year as self-employed, she nearly doubled her salary. She was a natural, and those around her knew it. Her hard arse attitude and never give up business steak put her at the top of her game. So offcourse, when you get to the top, where to from there. This woman is not one to stop! She created two fashion lines; Annah S for the everyday woman who just wants to look fantastic; and Annah Stretton, the range designed for the rising fashionista. She admits Annah S makes Stretton her money, but her passion lies in the Annah Stretton line.

Stretton is at present working on a line called “Chameleon”, one dress designed to be worn 10 different ways. This has sprouted from her interest and passion for sustainability in the attempt to hold Global Warming. This piece is somewhat anti-fashion, with a beautifully ugly appearance. Fashion as a niche is about keeping up with the newest items and looks. This is sort of what this frock is, but you don’t have to run out and purchase a new and environmentally harmful item, just change up the one you have!

We congratulate Annah on her achievements, and thank her so much for her time and wisdom. All the best with her new season lines, and for the future, not that you will need luck! We will be watching, and offcourse, admiring.

Green World Advertisements

Examples of "green" ads. A lot of it I think of it more as anti-promotion. As in, your killing...why not stop now. A better way could be to promote a more positive outlook. Does fear in advertising work? What about the threatening approach? Have a look at the blog here.
